The Welsh Rewilding Alliance (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is a network of organisations who support rewilding in Wales. This policy explains how we handle your personal data.
Data Controller
The Welsh Rewilding Alliance is currently a collaborative project rather than an independent legal entity. Tir Natur (Registered Charity No: 1199300) is the Data Controller. They host our mailing lists and manage data collected through our sign-up forms.
We do not use cookies to track your behavior on our site, and we do not collect any personal data or personally identifiable information (PII) through our website analytics. We use Plausible Analytics, which allows us to see overall trends in website traffic without identifying individual visitors.
Information We Collect
The only personal data we collect is information you voluntarily provide to us:
- Contact details: your first name, last name and email address, provided when you sign up for email updates through our Mailchimp form.
- Email interaction: Mailchimp uses industry-standard technologies to track whether emails we send are opened and which links are clicked. This helps us ensure our communications remain relevant to our supporters.
How We Use Your Data
We process your data based on Consent (for newsletters and email updates) or Legitimate Interests (to manage the Alliance and maintain our website) for the following:
- To send you updates about the Welsh Rewilding Alliance and rewilding in Wales.
- To manage your participation in our campaigns or events.
Sharing Your Data
We will never sell your data. We share it only with necessary service providers like Mailchimp.
The Alliance may continue as a collaborative project or it may become an independent legal entity in the future. If the Alliance decides to incorporate as a separate legal entity, your data will be transferred to that new entity as the successor controller, and you will be notified of this change.
International Transfers
If you sign up for updates, your data will be processed by Mailchimp, which stores its data in the US. We ensure appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) are in place to protect your data to UK standards.
Your Rights
Under the UK GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your data, and to withdraw your consent at any time (via the “unsubscribe” link). You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. If you are a subscriber, we will inform you by email when changes are being made. We will also update the “Last updated” date at the top of this Privacy Policy.
